Description

Our client, a UK-based oil and gas company with operations globally, is currently in the market for a Tax Advisor with Corporate Tax and VAT experience.  This forward-thinking organisation is going through an exciting time and will offer desirable flexible working options and a very competitive salary for an Assistant Manager or Manager level professional

Reporting to the Senior Tax Advisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepare tax computations of active (and dormant as required) UK companies to submission level for review by Senior Tax Advisors
  • Research and draft replies to any HMRC correspondence
  • Prepare quarterly CT payment recommendations (as required)
  • Provide assistance with foreign branch/entity compliance & planning – involves liaison with overseas advisors and local staff
  • Review the tax in monthly/interim/ annual group forecasts and analyse movements
  • Provide assistance to Statutory Reporting Team with preparation of monthly group current and deferred tax journals
  • Prepare interim and year end current and deferred tax provisions and tax notes for group accounts for review
  • Review monthly VAT return and advise on VAT efficiencies
  • Review UK inter-company service agreements in place and ensure kept up to date; set up new UK agreements as appropriate
  • Assist with initial research into new country entry
  • Assist with update of transfer pricing documentation
  • Provide assistance in project work, including any due diligence work, as required
  • Advise Supply Chain department on tax clauses for procurement contracts both UK and overseas
  • Ad hoc technical research & advice on UK and international corporate tax, VAT and employment issues

Requirements:

  • CTA or CA qualification with relevant experience in corporate tax, obtained either in an accounting firm, working with large corporate clients, or from industry
  • Excellent UK corporation tax and VAT knowledge
  • Compliance and advisory experience
  • International tax experience
  • Commercial awareness
  • Good interpersonal skills and flexibility
  • Good organizational skills
  • Familiarity with IFRS
  • Ideally oil and gas tax experience - not essential
