Job Title: Group Project Accountant
Reports to: Financial Controller

Rutherford Cross has been exclusively engaged by one of Europe’s largest, privately owned retail businesses in order to recruit a Group Project Accountant. The role will be part of the Group Finance Department and the post-holder will partner with stakeholders across the business with the primary role of managing the Group’s fixed assets. The post-holder will play a central role in shaping the way the business accounts for and manages fixed assets going forward, with a centralisation project to manage and streamline processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant or an accountant with experience in managing fixed-asset processes to process their career within an exciting and fast-paced business.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the accounting of the Group’s large asset portfolio
- Manage the Fixed Asset Registers & controls
- Work closely with Group Estates and other stakeholders on new builds and large-scale projects
- Responsible for accounting for demo vehicles at Head Office (within fixed assets)
- Liaise with other departments on the ongoing asset maintenance programme
- Longer term centralisation project to manage accounting of land and buildings from Head Office
- Prepare asset disclosures for Annual Report and other required external reporting
- Review repair and maintenance for tax purposes
- Prepare property insurance confirmation
- Support projects around sustainability and EV charging infrastructures
- Manage the Group’s Rates processes (annual charges / revaluations / appeals)
- Provide reports and management information
- Help the development of Graduate Accountants who assist with projects and fixed assets
The Individual:
- Qualified Accountant or an accountant with experience in managing fixed asset processes
- Ambitious and dynamic with a track record of proactively challenging the status quo and driving change
- Ability to adapt to a high-paced working environment, prioritise and be flexible
- Advanced Excel skills, building macros
- Prior exposure to Fixed Asset accounting
- Strong commercial understanding
- Excellent communication skills
- Influencing skills
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines
- Ability to work on own
