Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be partnered with a highly successful business based in South Lanarkshire to appoint a Group FP&A Accountant. This is a brilliant opportunity for a newly or recently qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) either looking for progression in a commercial role or taking the first step into industry from practice.

This role will work closely alongside the Group Financial Controller and Group Finance Director to develop and deliver the key finance functions. These include, but are not limited to, monthly group management accounts and draft statutory reporting, forecasting, budgeting and monitoring of cash flow.

Role responsibilities:

  • Leading group forecasting process, ensuring timely submission across the group and reporting to directors
  • Leading the budgeting process within the group, ensuring budgets are produced in an efficient and timely manner
  • Designing and maintaining operational reports such as sales statistics, finance and insurance sales and stock reports
  • Providing insight into the monthly reporting performance and support improvement actions
  • Assisting the preparation of the group P&L and Balance Sheet and statutory disclosures
  • Driving consistency and efficiency in accounting practices across the group
  • Supporting senior group management on the criteria and calculation for performance-related bonuses and commissions sheets on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Contributing to finance pack for board meetings, including analysis of cash flow, funding and lending utilisation, debtors, capital projects and performance against budget
  • Liaising with external auditors
  • Assisting with all group tax matters, including quarterly VAT reporting and compliance with group policies, corporation tax analysis, employment taxes and customs procedures
  • Assisting with all other external reporting requirements
  • Ad hoc reports on various areas of the business as required

Other ad hoc work is likely to include:

  • System development and implementation
  • Business planning and assessment of acquisition and growth opportunities
  • Supporting annual retendering of contracts including utilities, insurance and other group purchasing contracts
  • Deputising for the Group Financial Controller as necessary

The candidate:

The role demands a wide variety of skills and abilities requiring a confident individual with strong technical and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be exposed to the most senior level of management in the group and will be expected to make an impact from the outset. Experience in a commercial environment would be advantageous, as would a varied public practice background.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to understand and analyse large volumes of data and have commensurate systems development, Excel or Power BI skills.

Knowledge and experience in a multi-company accounting environment, monthly management accounting, annual statutory reporting and a variety of business taxes would be beneficial.

Core competencies required are as follows:

  • Strong financial analytical skills
  • Initiative, self-reliance and an ability to deliver tasks with minimal supervision
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels in the organisation
  • Excellent communicator and presenter

  • Annual salary of £45,000 - £52,000, depending on experience
  • Company car
  • Private Health Care
  • Group Personal Pension (Defined Contribution) with employer-matched contributions of 5%
  • Annual Leave: 22 days plus 8 statutory
  • Life cover
  • Unrivalled development and progression opportunities
