Description

STV Group plc provides audiences with high quality content on air, online and on demand. The business is organised into two dynamic operating divisions – STV Audience and STV Studios – both supported by central enabling functions.

STV Group has a clear strategy to establish itself as both a globally recognised content powerhouse and Scotland’s leading platform for audiences and advertisers. The company aims to deliver higher‑margin revenue growth through new, technology‑enabled advertising capabilities, increased digital viewing, and expansion into audio – beginning with the launch of its new commercial radio station, STV Radio.
Focused on growing key content market segments while driving profitability and margin progression through international IP and catalogue expansion, STV Group will continue to attract and empower world‑class creative talent to bring its creativity to global screens.

Currently STV are seeking to recruit a Group Financial Controller, which operates as a senior leader within STV Group plc, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and compliance of all group financial reporting while overseeing tax, regulatory and statutory obligations. As owner of the Group’s consolidation, core controls environment and financial systems architecture, the post-holder leads the delivery of high‑quality financial information and insight to internal and external stakeholders, including the Board and Audit & Risk Committee. The role brings technical leadership across accounting, tax and financial governance, engages with advisers and auditors, and drives continuous improvement in reporting, control automation and the overall risk management framework.

In addition to safeguarding the enterprise risk and financial control environment, the Group Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in enabling the Group’s FastFwd growth strategy by strengthening performance management disciplines, challenging forecasts and budgets, and providing high‑quality analysis to the CFO/COO, divisional leaders and wider executive teams. The position supports strategic initiatives across business development, M&A, major contracts and transformation programmes, while leading, developing and motivating a high‑performing finance team. Through sound governance, operational excellence and credible financial stewardship, the GFC helps maintain trust with shareholders, auditors, banking partners and other key stakeholders, ensuring the Group remains resilient, well‑managed and strategically

The post-holder will be a qualified accountant (CA) with substantial post‑qualification experience in a listed or multi‑location group, bringing deep IFRS expertise and a proven ability to deliver consolidated reporting, financial control and audit processes to a high standard. They will demonstrate strong leadership capability, having built and motivated high‑performing finance teams, and show a clear track record of enhancing systems, processes and controls.

Experience engaging with Boards and Audit & Risk Committees, as well as exposure to M&A, integration activity and fast‑moving or digitally evolving sectors. The candidate will combine technical excellence, commercial insight, clear and credible communication skills, and the ability to balance governance with strategic business partnering. Above all, they will operate with integrity, sound judgement and a proactive, change‑oriented mindset suited to a dynamic industry environment.

The role is based in Glasgow on a hybrid working basis and offers a market leading financial package, including pension, healthcare benefits and bonus of up to 20%.
