Description

Job Title: Group Finance Business Partner
Location: Leith, Hybrid

Forth Ports, is one of the UK’s most significant and fast‑growing port groups. With a group revenue of £360 million and £174 million EBITDA, Forth Ports operates an extensive network of eight ports, employing over 1,300 people across the UK. The continuing growth of Forth Ports has led to the newly created requirement of a Group Finance Business Partner as it continues to expand and diversify the business offerings. The role will be a key conduit to streamlining and improving reporting processes across the business.

Reporting to the Group Reporting Manager, the successful candidate will work as an integral part of the Head Office finance team having the following specific responsibilities:

  • Partnering with the IT, Business Intelligence and divisional/head office finance teams to drive continuous improvement in the financial reporting capability of the group
  • Simplifying the reporting processes across multiple systems in collaboration with different stakeholders aligning financial and non-financial information
  • Creating concise and consistent management dashboards for monthly reporting
  • Driving continuous improvement in the quality and timeliness of finance reporting
  • Working with the IT and divisional finance teams during finance system upgrades to ensure these are appropriately scoped and planned, testing is completed pre-upgrade and that all control reports are reconciled between systems
  • Providing support to the Group Reporting Manager in maintaining the group valuation model

In addition to these specific responsibilities the Group Finance Business Partner will support the Head Office finance team in relation to meeting ongoing reporting requirements e.g. monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts, 5-year plans, annual statutory accounts etc.

Candidate requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA or CIMA) or Part-Qualified/QBE
  • Experience in managing reporting processes, continuous process improvement
  • Advanced skills in Excel and financial modelling, Power BI or similar systems to build management dashboards for monthly reporting
  • Previous partnering with different divisions to help relay concise and accurate information when building out reports
  • Intellectually curious with a desire to learn about the industry/sector with an agile and can-do mindset
  • Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders across the group, ability to challenge and influence teams and senior leadership
  • Strong analytical, judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible and collaborate to support the success of a small team
  • Experience in multi-entity or multi-sector environments is a strong advantage
