Description

Rutherford Cross is excited to be working with a successful, Scottish manufacturing business to appoint a Finance Business Partner. The purpose of the role is to produce management accounting reports on both current and forecasted financial positions, providing insight and analysis. This individual will assist the Senior Management Accountant in the day to day support of all finance functions across several group entities.

Key duties include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts reporting packs for several group entities, inclusive of provision of quality in-depth insight and analysis
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements, ensuring correct compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Responsible for general ledger accounting for several group entities, including processing of accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue, tax etc.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of turnover recorded though analysing order and delivery through to invoice and cash
  • Providing cost accounting and inventory analysis on period by period basis: creating standard costs, preparing variance and inventory analysis, managing inventory valuations, physical inventories and cycle counts
  • Manage and co-ordinate the monthly and annual ledger close process across several group entities
  • Preparation of budgets and review of budget proposals
  • Providing financial support to the different departments within the company, including providing financial advice and support in terms of budgeting, potential cost savings, day to day spend requirements, periodic performance against forecast and ad hoc advice
  • Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of ancillary returns including VAT, EC Sales List and Intrastat
  • Preparation of information required for UK and overseas tax returns, including liaison with external tax advisers to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of tax payments and returns
  • Responsible for liaising with external advisors on the UK R&D tax claim, providing necessary information as required
  • Responsible for overseas office compliance work including company secretarial requirements
  • Play a key part in the future of the new finance systems implementation globally
  • Implement, ensure compliance and provide support on global policies, procedures, guidance documents and internal controls across several group entities
  • Propose, support and effect process improvements
  • Ad hoc projects as required.

Candidate requirements:

  • Qualified accountant;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Proactive/Self-Starter with the initiative to drive things forward;
  • Strong team player who has the skills to work across different cultures and personality styles;
  • Highly motivated with a delivery focus and the ability to balance conflicting requirements;
  • Adaptable to business change and a fast-paced environment with a growth agenda
  • Experience of producing good quality management reporting packs with in-depth insight and analysis
  • Experience in budget processes
  • Proven track record of challenging existing processes and implementing more efficient and effective procedures
  • Previous experience of a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including standard costing systems, would be useful.
