The Head of Commercial Finance is a key member of the finance team and, working closely with both the Managing Director and Finance Director, will report to the Commercial Director. They will deliver accurate and high-quality management information, while organising and contributing to the leadership of the commercial finance function.
The main duties and responsibilities will involve:
- Supervision and development of the commercial team, including evolving the structure to meet business needs
- Analysis of new business opportunities, including commercial bids and contract reviews
- Support the Commercial Director in creating financial models for commercial contract negotiations and ongoing reporting, including investment analysis and scenario planning of risks, potential returns, etc. (NVP/IRR/etc.)
- Support the Commercial Director in pricing and contract negotiations.
- Provision of information to support capital expenditure
- Support the Finance Director in accurate monitoring of assets, including depreciation and disposal
- Review and analysis of performance including budgeting, cashflow forecasts, cost control and KPI monitoring
- Supporting any accounting system implementations and upgrades
- Supervision and mitigation of business risks
The Individual
The Head of Commercial Finance position requires a professionally qualified accountant who possesses excellent technical accounting skills, strong systems knowledge and previous management experience.
A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:
- High calibre graduate with a good track record of academic achievement
- Fully qualified accountant with appropriate post-qualification experience
- Excellent technical knowledge of statutory accounting, taxation and compliance
- Experience of implementing robust financial controls, processes and procedures
- Strong commercial understanding, especially in relation to maximising new business opportunities
- Ability to develop high quality management information to support decision making
- Excellent staff management and development skills
- Knowledge of investment analysis and financial modelling would be advantageous
- System implementation and development experience is desirable
- Good IT skills, especially in relation to Microsoft applications and Excel in particular
- Self-starter, willing to be involved in the detail, whilst having sufficient gravitas to support and challenge key stakeholders as required
- Confident communicator at every level, with strong inter-personal and influencing skills
- Self-motivated, organised and capable of developing in the current role over time
- Committed individual, displaying drive, ambition, and professionalism
- Flexible to travel to other subsidiary sites as required

The position offers a highly competitive financial package to attract the right individual. Salary is in the region of £60,000 - £75,000, plus bonus, pension and private healthcare
