The Glasgow city centre headquarters comprises some 75 professionals including the Board of Directors, Group Heads of Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, Company Secretary/legal team and the Group Finance team.

 

The Opportunity

Due to a recent restructure, an opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual to join the business in the role of Head Office Management Accountant. This is a key position within the Head Office Accounting Team and responsible for producing statutory accounts, management information and liaising with budget holders. Reporting to the Head Office Financial Controller, it is a broad and visible role across the business requiring a high calibre individual.

The Role

A new role of Head Office Management Accountant has been created to support the Head Office Financial Controller through accurate and timely execution of key activities, primarily in the areas of monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and statutory reporting for The Weir Group PLC, as well as a number of non-trading entities.

 

In addition, fulfilment of the role will require the provision of ad hoc and regular financial support and analysis for Department Heads as well as management of the intercompany invoicing and cash collection processes and providing day-to-day support and guidance to the Head Office Accounts Assistant.

 

The Candidate

The position requires a confident individual with strong technical and interpersonal ability. As this role will interface heavily with the business, experience of a commercial business environment would be preferred. In addition, it is likely the individual will come from a firm/business background where they will be experienced in the reporting, system and control requirements of large companies.

 

It is essential that the individual will be a professionally qualified accountant and likely that they will possess a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience. The qualification can be from any recognised professional body (i.e. CA, ACCA, ACMA).

 

Remuneration

In addition to a generous salary of £35,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience), defined contribution pension, life assurance, private healthcare and 25 days holidays plus 9 statutory days.
