Our client is leading FTSE listed business that has one of its key divisions based in Glasgow. The division is about to undergo a significant investment and, as part of this, the business is seeking to recruit a high calibre Finance Director to provide financial and commercial leadership, partnering the Managing Director and the broader Executive team.
The Role
The position will involve shaping the strategic direction of the organisation, delivering financial plans and the providing oversight of commercial risk. The Finance Director will build strong and effective working relationships both internally and externally, leading and motivating the team locally and partnering effectively with the extended finance team across the Group.

Specifically, this will involve:
- Developing the long-term strategy and development of the business, providing challenge, analysis and thought leadership
- Building sound working relationships with Divisional and Group Finance, Operations, Commercial, Procurement and various external stakeholders
- Providing leadership on finance and commercial activities relating to budgets, forecasts, cost improvements, governance, risk and contract negotiations
- Leading senior level contract negotiations, ensuring contractual arrangements with customers, suppliers and other partners to create long term value for the business
- Ensuring the performance of the division meets financial and non-financial targets
- Ensuring appropriate financial accounting control and processes are maintained
- Taking overall responsibility for all statutory and regulatory financial requirements
- Ensuring the development of the team by regularly reviewing organisational structures and individual development plans
The Individual
To apply for this role, you will be a professionally qualified, commercially focused accountant with appropriate post-qualification experience for a role at this level. You will come from a similar corporate business background and will have a proven track record of partnering with Managing Directors to improve the financial and operational performance of business units.
Key individual requirements include:
- Strong leadership qualities with experience of building robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- High developed commercial acumen and contract negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to digest information quickly and communicate key messages confidently and effectively
- High degree of integrity, self-discipline and a strong work ethic
- Open and honest approach with the ability to challenge and be challenged as appropriate
Remuneration:
In addition to a salary of up to £120,000 per annum (depending on experience) there are a number of executive benefits including car allowance (£6,000), pension (10% employer contribution), bonus (up to 30%) and personal share plan.
