Description

An exciting, diverse opportunity for a Financial Controls, Compliance and Insurance Manager to join a leading public sector organisation based in Glasgow. This position will give you the opportunity to play a key role in governance and compliance protecting the organisation against significant financial loss, by ensuring an effective financial control framework and for management of the insurance programme.

Day to day deliverables include:

  • Responsibility for ensuring the financial framework is designed, documented and effectively communicated to senior management within the organisation
  • Key finance policies are in place and fit for purpose
  • Financial regulations are kept up to date and effectively communicated
  • Track internal audit findings to ensure timely closure and prepares reporting for the audit committee
  • Act as subject matter expert where control issues or concerns are highlighted to advise on improvements or remediations that should be put in place
  • Undertake internal projects to improve controls processes or support internal reviews
  • Leads review, provision and co-ordination of Freedom of Information requests that require Finance office support
  • Manage insurance renewal programme to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Hold regular review meetings with brokers / insurance companies
  • Alongside senior finance management act as crisis management focal point

To be considered for this role you will be a qualified accountant or auditor and will likely maintain one of the following qualifications: CA/ACCA/ACA/IIA/CIA/CIPFA and will have a demonstrable experience working within internal audit or delivering financial control improvements. You will also have the ability to communicate effectively and negotiate with senior stakeholders, manage multiple projects, can evidence strategic solutions focused approach to problem solving and proven analytical skills. Line management experience is also preferable.
