Rutherford Cross Retained by Utopi to Appoint Management Accountant

Utopi is a Glasgow‑based ESG technology company founded in 2019, focused on improving the performance, sustainability and efficiency of multi‑tenant real estate. The business positions itself as a specialist in intelligent building software, combining data acquisition, analytics and ESG reporting to help property owners understand how their buildings operate and how they can reduce environmental impact. Its core mission is to measurably improve building performance, enhance residents’ lived experience and reduce the carbon footprint of the built environment.

At the heart of Utopi’s offering is a data platform powered by IoT sensors that capture real‑time information such as temperature, humidity, CO₂ levels, occupancy and energy usage. These sensors feed data into the company’s analytics engine, enabling operators to make informed decisions that reduce wasted energy, improve air quality and optimise comfort. The system delivers actionable insights for building owners, meeting the growing need for robust ESG reporting and compliance in residential sectors such as student accommodation, build‑to‑rent, co‑living and senior living.

Utopi has emerged as a leading player in the UK’s clean‑tech and prop‑tech sectors, recognising early the industry’s shift toward sustainability and data‑driven property management. The company has installed its platform across multiple buildings and has achieved significant growth, including being ranked among the fastest‑growing technology companies in Scotland, with notable traction across sectors that require scalable, measurable ESG improvements. Its leadership highlights the importance of combining operational efficiency with climate impact reduction, positioning Utopi at the intersection of environmental responsibility and commercial performance.

The company is looking to appoint a part-qualified or recently qualified Management Accountant to join its Glasgow-based finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong commercial awareness, combining core management accounting with business-focused analysis to help shape decisions around stock, pricing, sales reporting and operational efficiency.

The Management Accountant will take responsibility for month‑end processes, sales reporting and revenue analysis. They will also partner closely with sales and operations teams to help drive efficiency and accuracy across the finance function. The role also offers opportunities to embrace AI and automation to improve reporting and processes, giving you a chance to shape the future of finance in the business.
