Rutherford Cross retained by Hero Brands to appoint Commercial Finance Leader

Hero Brands is a highly successful, family-owned multifaceted business, responding to emerging consumer trends and building fast-casual brands of the future. With a network of experienced multi-unit franchise operators, they can move at pace and quickly launch brands to a global consumer audience. All of their brands have been chosen and developed to offer quality and innovation to a diverse and discerning global audience.

The Food & Beverage Division of Hero Brands has significant ambitions for growth across its portfolio, of which German Donner Kebab is the most mature of the businesses across the group. In order to develop its other brands, the business has identified the need to appoint a Commercial Finance Leader to provide analysis and modelling to support growth and potential investment.

This is the first dedicated commercial finance resource for these brands and presents a real opportunity for someone to shape the role and build influence around the business. There is also the potential for a team to be created in future that would report to this individual.

The Commercial Finance Leader post will have 2 key areas of focus, firstly forecasting and strategic analysis and secondly modelling and analysis to evaluate investment or divestment opportunities.

The post-holder will coordinate and deliver planning and strategy processes, helping to monitor performance against these and drive accountability across the Hero Brands portfolio (with the exception of GDK). The successful individual must be intellectually curious and detail-oriented, with a desire to continually improve financial and operational analysis to help inform and drive better decision-making. The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of forecasting and budgeting, including timetable management, helping to prepare and present analysis to executive management, and collaborating with Executive Management to ensure appropriate targets are set and monitored. The Commercial Finance Leader will prepare, develop and assess ad-hoc financial and non-financial analysis to inform and drive decision-making.

The brands are at the introductory stage of their life cycle and in order to realise their potential growth, the business is considering funding options.  There has already been some interest from a number of credible parties in investing in certain brands and the Commercial Finance Leader will be involved in evaluating the viability of these opportunities.
