Directors, Hazel Wynn and Sophie Randles were delighted to host the latest event with their Women in Finance Leadership community.
At Rutherford Cross and Livingston James we firmly believe in creating communities and networks that benefits all our stakeholders and feel this is even more important with evolving ways of working and the rapid acceleration of AI.
We set up this group almost two years ago now with the aim of connecting women in finance leadership roles who will likely be navigating similar topics. Our aim was to provide an opportunity to network, share stories and insights and also hear from some excellent guest speakers.
We were delighted to have Evelyn McDonald CEO of Scottish EDGE join us. Evelyn is the CEO of the private sector led, social enterprise, Scottish EDGE C.I.C. which runs a competition aimed at supporting Scotland’s early-stage, innovative, high-growth potential, entrepreneurial talent.
It was fascinating and inspiring to hear from Evelyn on the running of Scottish EDGE, the different eco systems connected to the competition, emerging trends across the Scottish business community and also the more technical aspects of being involved in the judging panel on the competition.
Other areas covered in the group discussion included:
- The importance of trusted advisors and ‘cheerleaders’ in business
- Being proactive with your network, who else can you connect them with that will be helpful
- How AI is impacting businesses and what tools are being used that are most effective
- The importance of feedback and surrounding yourself with people who have been there and done it!
It is all about impact and people – having a growth mindset in today’s world is essential!
It was another great evening and we are already looking forward to the next one. Thank you to all who attended.
