Our Next Generation CFO event has been running since Rutherford Cross was established, and over the past 13 years, we have featured more than 30 of Scotland’s leading CFOs.
The series has welcomed a wide range of high-profile speakers from PLCs, family-owned businesses, private equity, and the public sector, with each conversation offering its own unique insights and takeaways.
At Rutherford Cross, we firmly believe in creating communities and networks that benefit all our stakeholders. Our latest Next Generation CFO event was one of our busiest events to date, with a packed room from the senior finance community in the Central Belt of Scotland. Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to network, alongside a little light-hearted fun courtesy of the Commonwealth Games Quiz.
Huge thanks to Faye Shaw, Chief Finance & Corporate Services Officer for Glasgow 2026, who shared her journey to CFO, her transition from CFO to CEO, and the key learnings along the way. Faye highlighted the importance of aligning with your purpose, creating a shared vision and objectives with your team, and remaining consistent and authentic as a leader.
We also heard from Sarah McKerley, Director of Marketing & Campaigns at Glasgow 2026, who gave an overview of what to expect from this summer’s Games and shared insight into delivering a campaign of such scale in Glasgow.
Finally, Gemma Sole, former Commonwealth athlete and Partner at School for CEOs, offered her perspective on what it takes to compete at the Games, how athletes prepare, and her own personal experience of a hugely memorable occasion. Three hugely engaging conversations prompted plenty of thoughtful questions from the audience.
We also had a wonderful surprise guest appearance from Finnie the Commonwealth Games Mascot!
