Description

Rutherford Cross is working together with a leading Big 4 firm in Ireland to recruit a VAT Manager for their team in Dublin.

Ireland is the third-largest island in Europe and is split into the Republic of Ireland and Northern Island, which is part of the United Kingdom. Ireland’s culture is world renowned, no matter where you are in the world you will undoubtedly find an Irish bar somewhere! From the stereotype of drinking Guiness to the friendly and welcoming people, Ireland is regarded as one of the Celtic ‘nations’ of Europe. Ireland can offer the bustling city of Dublin where there is always something to do, or many hills and ragged peninsulas for the outdoor and adventurous type. Ireland ranks among the wealthiest counties in the world in terms of GDP per capita and after joining the European Union in 1973, Ireland enacted a series of liberal economic policies that resulted in rapid economic growth until the global economic crash in 2008. Although still recovering from the economic crash, Ireland remains one of the world’s most prosperous nations with a shift from being predominantly agricultural driven to having more of a focus on high technology industries and services. Ireland has witnessed an increase in foreign investment and attracted several multinational corporations due to the low corporation tax rate, including Intel, Microsoft, Google and Facebook. The financial services industry also plays a large part in the Irish economy.

This opportunity is with a market leading Big 4 firm in Dublin. With 400 tax professionals and 30 partners, this firm has one of the largest tax practices in the market. The VAT team comprises over 40 professionals and 4 VAT partners. This firm have ambitious plans and are undergoing a period of growth. They can offer opportunities for progression, challenging projects, a market-leading learning and development programme and a collaborative environment. This role will involve being responsible for a portfolio of both Irish and international clients; liaising with clients and advising on all relevant VAT issues including interacting with Revenue on clients behalf; and being responsible for the training and mentoring of junior members of staff. To be considered for this role you will have a relevant tax, legal or accountancy qualification and a minimum of four years in a professional tax, legal or accountancy environment working within VAT. Strong technical skills are required along with knowledge of the Irish and European VAT legislation. For exceptionally strong profiles the Irish VAT experience may be excused. The remuneration packages are excellent at all levels and include an extremely competitive base salary, performance based bonus and manager benefits along with a flexible benefits package.
