Description
Rutherford Cross is delighted to be collaborating with a highly successful global enterprise, situated on the outskirts of Glasgow, to appoint a Project Accountant. This position is tasked with ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of project actuals and forecast financial performance. The role involves rigorously challenging actual and forecast costs to drive continuous cost improvements, providing reliable data and financial analysis for decision-making and planning throughout the business.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Preparation of the project baseline budget and EAC reforecasts in collaboration with the Project Team
- Conducting Value of Work Done (VOWD) assessments throughout the project life, identifying and mitigating slippages, and escalating issues to management
- Providing forecast project revenue and margin information for quarterly forecasts and the annual budget process
- Performing cost variance analysis, sensitivity analysis, and identifying opportunities, risks, and mitigations for the project manager
- Ensuring accurate allocation of costs to cost accounts/work orders, reviewing coding of requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, variations, reconciling costs to the General Ledger, and investigating variances
- Preparing regular internal and external project reports for management and customers
- Collaborating in the preparation of variation order requests/claims and relevant follow-up, assisting the Project Manager in evaluating changes as required
- Facilitating and participating in lessons learned sessions on project delivery, providing feedback to improve future project delivery
- Assisting project planning to define and maintain detailed Work Breakdown Structures
- Performing other relevant duties/tasks as assigned by the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Excellent analytical review skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail
- PQ ICAS/ACCA/CIMA qualification is an advantage
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Engineering is an advantage
- Proven track record in a similar role
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems
