Rutherford Cross are delighted to be working exclusively with a growing manufacturing and distribution business in North Lanarkshire to recruit a newly created Management Accountant position. Their ideal candidate will be from a manufacturing background and have an understanding of stock, business partnering with stakeholders to help them drive operational performance, often by making cost recommendations.
The role is 3 days on site, 2 from home with an early finish on a Friday with a competitive salary, depending on experience.
Job Title: Management Accountant
Reports to: Financial Director
Location: North Lanarkshire
Position Overview:
This role focuses on supporting the financial health of the business through effective planning, control, and reporting, enabling informed strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with management and departments to deliver day-to-day financial support, reporting, and analysis
- Serve as the primary contact for auditors and accountants during year-end processes
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Communicate financial insights to non-financial managers and leadership
- Perform month-end close tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, and internal/statutory reporting
- Conduct financial analysis to support profitability and business growth
- Stock valuation at month-end and participate in stock counts
- Support budget and forecast preparation in collaboration with departments
- Analyse product costs and support pricing and new product development
- Manage day-to-day cash operations with cash flow forecasting
- Oversee debt and fixed asset management
- Recommend and develop improvements in financial systems and procedures
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and process efficiencies
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance
- Complete statutory statistical surveys
- Submit VAT returns
The Individual
This role suits a part-qualified, qualified or QBE accountant or QBE with experience in manufacturing. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and proactive, bringing previous best practices to improve financial processes.
Key Requirements:
- Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA), part-qualified, or QBE
- Experience in producing management information and financial analysis
- Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
- Background in a similar finance role preferred
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Able to handle pressure, solve problems, and work independently or within a team
