Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be exclusively engaged by a growing, family-owned business to appoint a Management Accountant. The position is based at the company's brand-new HQ in central Glasgow; however, the company itself has a national footprint. The business has grown significantly in the last few years, and this position represents a key hire as the continued growth requires further support from its high-performing finance function.

In this position, you will work closely with the Financial Controller with day-to-day support whilst also getting involved in projects and driving improvements across the business. It is envisaged that in a few years this position will become a business partnering role, so we are looking for someone who can get stuck in and learn the systems, understand the business, and then have the opportunity to progress their career.

This would be an ideal first move for someone in professional practice seeking a first move into the commercial industry, or a part-qualified individual seeking a role that offers study support and progression. We are also happy to consider QBE should the experience be relevant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Involved in preparation and distribution of accurate monthly management accounts and weekly KPI’s
  • Understanding, reconciling and communicating key variances between actual performance and budget
  • Supporting continuous improvement of business systems and processes
  • Preparation of regular weekly and monthly reporting and being able to analyse and explain changes to the Financial Controller and Finance Director
  • Analysing and evidencing monthly accruals and prepayments alongside other balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assistance in the preparation of the year-end audit file
  • Building relationships with operations teams across different regions and divisions and providing financial analysis to them on their performance
  • Involvement in statutory reporting – both with external auditors and banking club
  • Support the management of assets, ensuring these are being recorded accurately
  • Support year-end stock counts
