Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a long-standing Glasgow based client who is looking to add a new Management Accountant to their existing team. This role offers great benefits including study support, hybrid working and progression opportunities.

This role is best suited to a part qualified accountant looking to complete their professional qualification with experience in management accounts and business partnering, and has strong analytical skills.

Job Purpose

Responsibilities include ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of management accounts and reports, as well as maintaining control over balance sheet accounts. The role also involves close collaboration with operational managers.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and customer reports
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Management Accountant to achieve departmental targets
  • Ensure completion of all month-end tasks as per the agreed schedule and meet relevant deadlines
  • Evaluate management accounts against budget and provide variance commentary.
  • Assist in developing annual budgets
  • Code and categorize costs (e.g., capex and extra contract) to meet customer requirements
  • Reconcile balance sheets
  • Manage the WIP balance sheet account
  • Handle VAT returns
  • Coordinate with group finance teams to agree on intercompany recharges and balances

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a finance environment is necessary
  • Ideally pursuing a professional accountancy qualification (support will be provided)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong IT skills
  • Experience in a high-volume transaction environment
  • Ability to commit to multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive approach to process improvement within the team, including exploring future opportunities with Microsoft D365
