Rutherford Cross is working in partnership with an established business in Glasgow city centre to recruit a Management Accountant.
This vacancy represents an excellent opportunity for a part qualified or experienced accountant to work in a role that will provide great variety. The position encompasses a combination of key accounting tasks for a number of subsidiary companies within the group. As the group finance team is lean in nature, it is important that each individual is able to take ownership of their duties. It is likely the successful candidate will have worked in a small finance team where they have been used to taking on a variety of duties.

The purpose of the role is to for support the Group Financial Controller in their core responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide analysis of financial information for deliverable reports. They will gain exposure to second stage monthly accounts preparation and liaise with remote finance teams to ensure regular filing compliance. The Management Accountant will be tasked with maintaining a strong financial control environment through adequate and timely recording of financial information.
An overview of core responsibilities includes:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecast
- Support in the production of annual statutory accounts
- Prepare monthly journals: fixed assets / overheads accruals and prepayments / tax accruals / prepayments / HP journals
- VAT returns
- Tax information for P11D
- Tax information for tax computations
- Weekly wage review and IR compliance
- Prepare / review monthly control reconciliations (SL / PL)
- Staff training and development
- Review of remote finance function filing
- Accounting paperwork maintained and appropriately filed and archived
- Quarterly UK travel
- To undertake other duties as may be reasonably required of you by finance line manager and other senior finance dept. staff
Salary: Circa £26,000
Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus based on personal and company performance
Pension: Employee contribution 2.5% and employer 12.5%
Holidays: 30 days (including bank holidays)
Life Cover: Death in Service
Medical Care: Private Medical Insurance (after 2 years’ service)
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
