Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a leading Glasgow-based business that is looking to add a Commercial Management Accountant to its Operational Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant seeking a commercially focused role offering study support, hybrid working, and genuine career development opportunities.
This position is best suited to an ambitious finance professional with management accounting experience who enjoys working closely with operational stakeholders, analysing financial performance, and providing insight to support business decision-making.
Job Purpose:
You will support a managed contract portfolio within a fast-paced operational environment. This commercially focused role combines management accounting, financial reporting, and business partnering responsibilities, with a key focus on analysing operational cost variances across a large supplier portfolio.
Principal Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts for key business areas
- Ensure all month-end tasks are completed in line with agreed schedules and reporting deadlines
- Business partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to analyse performance against budgets
- Establish and maintain regular review meetings with business colleagues, tracking actions and ensuring follow-up activities are completed
- Develop a thorough understanding of the operational and commercial drivers within key contracts
- Play a key role in the annual budgeting process
- Maintain control of balance sheet accounts and reconciliations
- Produce weekly and monthly reporting, with opportunities to develop Power BI reporting capabilities
- Assist with ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience within a finance environment
- Part-qualified accountant or actively studying towards a professional accountancy qualification, with support available
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Good systems and IT knowledge
- Experience working within a high-volume transactional environment
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive approach to process improvement and identifying efficiencies
