Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be engaged on a 18-month Interim Senior Management Accountant role with our client based in Bellshill offering hybrid working.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Internal Reporting

  • Month-end reporting including the preparation and ownership of all the working papers
  • Preparing and posting of journals to the ledger, including month-end journals e.g., biomass and stock entries, accruals, and prepayments
  • Responsible for publishing month end analysis with commentary
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
  • Capex reporting and lease accounting (includes ROU leases under IFRS)
  • Preparing the Group consolidation (under IFRS)
  • Working with the Management Account to ensure they own the P&L and help their development through feedback and support

External Reporting

  • ONS Questionnaires
  • Deal directly with audit queries
  • Insurance and biomass submissions to SSPO, Crown Estate etc

Provide Support to Manager

  • Ad hoc queries arising internally or externally
  • Understanding of ex-cage costs, mortalities, and biomass movements
  • Implementing improvements to the current processes, including reducing the month end timeline
  • Being able to identify and flag issues around controls and identify errors within numbers reported
  • Statutory reporting and disclosure schedules

Business Support

  • Being initial point of contact for queries relating to accounts (excluding AR/PR related queries)
  • Forming strong relationships with Operational and support teams to understand costs at each site and any issues being identified through the reporting
  • Working with the sites to resolve any issues they are facing, as well as looking to provide solutions or improvements where possible
  • Being an advocate for business partnering

Skills Required:

  • Advanced technical accounting knowledge to support internal and external reporting including current knowledge of accounting standards under UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience with ERP and excel
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Proactive approach to resolving issues and putting in place sustainable solutions
  • Curiosity to learn about the business and form relationships to enable this
  • Accomplished in identifying information or knowledge gaps within the business and able to provide workable solutions
