Description

Interim Head of Financial Accounting & Governance job (Public Sector) based in Clydebank for an initial 3-6-month period. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing annual statutory accounts and month end returns to meet Board and external auditor requirements
  • Operational lead for the preparation and consolidation of financial reports for Senior Management
  • Overseeing the production of the month end ledger, processing of all ledger feeder systems, operation of ledger closedown procedures, and monitoring the completion of all accruals and prepayments
  • Monitoring and forecasting of cash and other working capital to ensure they meet targets and required levels
  • Participating in the review and development of the Boards finance and banking systems to reflect technical advancements and changes in accounting practice
  • Actively participate in the development of standards, policies, and procedures
  • Ensuring effective internal controls are in place and continue to deliver regulatory compliance
  • Supporting in the preparation of relevant papers for the Audit and Risk Committee
  • Developing and managing staff within the department and holding responsibility as a line manager for Financial Accounting staff on a day-to-day basis
  • Communicating highly complex financial information to non-financial managers
  • Deputise for the Assistant Director of Finance as required

Applications are welcomed from fully Qualified Accountants demonstrating relevant Financial Accounting experience within a complex organisation and exposure to managing change within an evolving finance environment. The ideal candidate will understand the requirement for speed, accuracy and attention to detail that modelling work involves. The ability to maintain key relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organisation is key. The post holder will have knowledge of Financial Governance and possess strong Excel/Financial Systems skills. This role will offer hybrid working and will commence immediately.
