Our Client
The opportunity has arisen for an Interim Finance Manager to join our client’s Corporate Services Finance department on a temporary basis (6-month FTC). Our client is a Scottish conservation organisation that is the largest membership organisation in Scotland.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller you will focus on the Operations Directorate and provide business partner support to Regional General Managers and their teams including all aspects of month end reporting, budgets, forecasts as well as direction and advice on other financial and non-financial matters.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing advice to the Regional Managers and their teams about the financial consequences of decisions, in particular those relating to financial planning and the financial opportunities and risks involved in proposed investments/initiatives.
- To improve the financial performance of the Region by:
- Supporting the development and creation of revenue and capital budgets to meet planned financial targets and projections.
- Supporting budget holders in monitoring and controlling their budgets.
- Supporting budget holders in providing accurate, timely forecasts.
- Producing ad hoc financial reports to facilitate improved monitoring and performance.
- Where relevant, liaising and negotiating with grant providing bodies to obtain maximum financial resources for the organisation as well as preparing, calculating and submitting grant claims.
- To maintain the financial discipline through:
- Preparing monthly accounts and highlighting key contributors to the financial performance.
- Supporting monthly review with the Regional Managers and Financial Controller.
- Ensuring that internal controls exist at all properties to minimise the risk of error and fraud.
- Supporting decisions on expenditure against approved budgets and/or variations.
- Providing financial and commercial input in the preparation stages of all projects including Interims and Variations.
- Support Regional Managers understanding of projects in their region, particularly current levels of expenditure and funding as well as proposals for resolution of issues which would lead to over-expenditure.
- Where managing staff is part of the role leading, managing and developing your team to ensure effective and efficient operation.
- To provide induction/training for Regional staff on the use of the finance systems.
- To undertake value for money reviews.
- To undertake other duties and responsibilities which are compatible with the overall scope and authority of the role.
- To work with the Finance Management team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of Budgets, Forecasts and monthly management accounts.
- Key member of the Finance team responsible for delivering the finance message across the organisation and communicating back to Regions their monthly financial results as well as overall financial performance of the organisation.
The ideal candidate:
- Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 3 years’ experience of financial management
- Management experience
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
Remuneration
Salary: £33,660 – 37,230 per annum
Car Allowance: £3,800
