Job Role: Head of Finance
Location: Stirling, Hybrid Working

medac Pharma LLP is a fast-growing, privately owned pharmaceutical company specialising in product development and the treatment of diseases within the key areas of Auto immune, Urology and haematology and onco generics. The Head of Finance is responsible for delivering accurate monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis, overseeing statutory accounts preparation, and ensuring robust financial controls and compliance. It involves creating and owning the financial strategy, managing cashflow and budgeting processes, and acting as a key business leader supporting organisational growth and risk management.

Key responsibilities and aims of the position:

  • Deliver accurate monthly financial reporting, forecasting and analysis to a range of stakeholders including UK senior leadership team and global finance team
  • Oversee year-end statutory accounts preparation medac LLP
  • Ensure timely payments and receivables processes
  • Maintain rolling cashflow forecasts and support investment/treasury management
  • Provide financial leadership across the organisation and embed effective internal controls
  • Act as lead on financial risk management, supporting wider organisational risk practices
  • Collaborate with HR on people planning and oversee monthly payroll processes
  • Manage Finance team members and foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement
  • Build a high performing and collaborative finance team that is embedded into medac UK
  • Maintain strong, transparent and proactive relationships with the global finance colleagues ensuring they understand the roles and responsibilities in the UK and whats happening in the market
  • Ensure proper accounting and compliance with accounting standards
  • Prepare the financial statements for medac LLP, implementation of effective internal controls and coordination of audits
  • Design and ownership of financial planning
  • Create and manage the budget process
  • Oversee financial reporting and analyses across UK and with global finance team
  • Ensure financial risks are properly identified and managed
  • Collaborate with external parties such as auditors to ensure medac mirrors best practice
  • Create and ownership of the financial strategy for the business
  • Foster key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Act as a champion for financial delivery across the executive team by creating accurate business models to support business winning pitches and robust controls
  • Lead on premises, facilities and procurement strategies
  • Manage cash management strategies and liquidity to support business operations and growth
  • Lead and develop the finance team, and acting as a duty business leader when needed

Required qualification/Special knowledge

  • Hold a recognised Accounting Qualification (ACA, CIMA OR ACCA) with appropriate leadership experience within a similar size / complex organisation. Demonstrable commercial experience, gained in the Pharmaceutical sector
  • Experienced in providing leadership in a commercial environment where margin control is paramount. You will have strong cost reduction experience and will have the ability to create and present compelling pitches to persuade others
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team and other third parties
  • Demonstration of the ability to stay on top of the numbers in a fast-paced environment and be able to deal with change whilst maintaining a cohesive team environment
  • Experienced in building and deploying financial models to support new business tenders
  • Be able to demonstrate you can understand and motivate your direct reports as well as gain the confidence of both peers at director and senior manager level throughout the organisation
  •  Advanced Excel
  • The successful candidate will foster a high-performing finance team, collaborate with global finance colleagues, and deputise for the General Manager in specific tasks
