Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working exclusively with this highly regarded FTSE 250, Glasgow headquartered business to recruit a Group Treasury Controller.  With a global footprint spanning over 70 countries, the company employs than 15,000 and represents a true global success story headquartered in Scotland.  This is a key position within the Group Finance team ideally suited to a technically competent and ambitious individual. The Treasury Controller will have responsibility for treasury accounting and reporting in line with IAS 39 and IFRS standards whilst supporting the divisional finance teams and Group treasury in all statutory and reporting matters relating to treasury.  The Treasury Controller will be expected to assist with project work, M&A activity and systems development/training.  This is a wide reaching group role which will involve communicating across business units globally and with senior business leaders.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Statutory reporting

 

  • Manage hedge accounting for the Group Treasury function and provide advice to other Group operations also applying hedge accounting
  • Monitor hedge effectiveness, produce necessary documentation and carry out testing
  • Prepare disclosure notes under IAS39 / IFRS 7 for year end and half year reporting
  • Provide input and consideration into hedge accounting for entire Group
  • Liaise with the external auditors

 

Management accounting

 

  • Preparation, review and provision of financial management information for a variety of treasury related entities
  • Consolidation and review of monthly management information for exchange, derivatives, net debt and interest for the Group as a whole
  • Valuation, analysis and reporting of derivative instruments including responsibility for the maintenance of hedge accounting relationships
  • Preparation and completion of quarterly budgets and forecasts for relevant entities within the Group
  • Preparation, analytical review and challenge of exchange, interest and net elements of the consolidated Group budgets and forecasts
  • Analysis, evaluation and reporting of key financial information and preparation of material for reporting to the City at half and full year
  • Management reporting and analysis of all treasury balances
  • Net investment hedge accounting
  • Recording of transactions in line with IAS39 i.e. FVTPL etc.
  • Valuation of derivatives
  • Annual budget and quarterly forecasting of P&L and cash flow positions

 

Operational duties

 

  • Liaise with global treasury teams on hedge accounting issues
  • Provide pertinent advice re. accounting treatment of potential new products/derivatives
  • Manage cash flow forecasting
  • Support treasury and accounting staff with reporting and analysis functions
  • Involvement in ad hoc and topical improvement projects e.g. develop FX forecasting model for main FX jurisdictions

 

Background and Work Experience Required

 

The position incorporates a blend of management reporting and analysis, financial reporting and project management requiring a confident individual with strong technical skills and interpersonal ability. As this is a Group role, experience of engineering or manufacturing industries, although useful, is not a specific criterion, but industry experience would be beneficial.

 

This role would be ideally suited to a qualified CA with a minimum of 5 years post qualifying experience in a commercial finance role.  Experience in treasury accounting and/or cash management principles is essential.  The ideal candidate will be capable of interacting with senior finance leaders.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with minimum 5 years post qualification experience
  • Recent experience in a Managerial role
  • ACT qualification helpful but not essential
