Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a Glasgow-based SME to recruit the role of Global Financial Controller. This is a unique and exciting opportunity and will be a pivotal hire for the company, offering broad exposure.
A summary of some of the key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic and financial guidance to the senior management team and other stakeholders, incorporating insightful financial information to support effective decision-making
- Lead and manage the global general accounting functions for the US / UK & NZ operations, including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, cost accounting, foreign currency and intercompany transactions
- Direct the global monthly close and year-end accounting, prepare monthly management reporting (including consolidation for various legal entities) and direct the accountants who have daily responsibilities for the same across multiple continents
- Create and maintain internal spending policies and controls consistent with company corporate governance policies
- Assess current practices and structure, make recommendations and implement improvements
- Manage banking activities, including day-to-day treasury operations, cash management and forecasting
- Develop staff by setting goals, managing performance, providing ongoing training and maintaining strong employee relationships
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and propose innovative solutions, so that the finance area can operate efficiently and cost-effectively to achieve targeted budget savings
- Manage global annual statutory audits including the preparation, review, and coordination of all required company financial filings, documents, and required reports; and act as the primary liaison with international auditors
- Oversee the implementation of complex projects/issues. Work collaboratively with other departments to execute approved projects. Manage integration or project efforts related to acquisitions & divestitures
- Manage UK Tax filings including corporate tax returns, quarterly VAT returns and annual R&D Tax Credits
- Oversee the UK payroll function, working with the third-party service provider to ensure timely and accurate payments are made to employees and government bodies
- Support all daily UK plant operations of the accounting department, including analysing and reporting on UK plant financials as well as global operational expenses to budget results
- Drive the costing and inventory functions to ensure accurate gross margin reporting and effective inventory control
This role will have a significant impact and will support the business on an exciting growth journey. They are seeking a Qualified Accountant with appropriate post-qualification experience who is ambitious and able to be hands-on in controlling finances while also driving forward processes. The business is International so there will be occasional travel throughout the year. On offer is a highly competitive salary up to £90,000 plus good benefits.
