Description
Rutherford Cross is currently engaged on a Financial Controller role with a highly ambitious and growing private equity backed organisation based in Glasgow.
The Opportunity
The Financial Controller will focus on building strong and effective working relationships internally and will be hands on working closely with the CFO with a team of 2 reporting into them.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly management accounts for the board and management team, providing advice and answering management queries as required
- Manage cash and banking on a daily basis, in line with forecast
- Analyse monthly stock movements and investigate any issues
- Raise sales invoices and oversee credit control
- Oversee purchase ledger input and pay suppliers, dealing with any queries
- Submit payroll data to payroll provider for monthly payroll and year end returns.
- Oversee processing of employee expense claims and make payment
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, recommending modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Input into and then take lead on budgeting and reforecasting cycle
- Manage audit and statutory accounts preparation
- Provide valuation and required updates to update brokers
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT return
- Prepare R&D tax credits detail and review calculation by external accountant
- Set up and implement new financial system
Skills Required:
- Professionally qualified accountant (e.g. CA, ACCA, ACMA) or experienced finance professional
- Commercial understanding and insight
- External communication and reporting writing skills – ability to communicate effectively across all levels (including customers and senior managers)
- Ability to work with and influence other departments (non-financial)
- Proactive and solution focused
- Strong organisation skills with structured and systematic approach to delivering solutions
- Experience of managing a team of people
- Technical knowledge and attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills (ERP systems and Microsoft Office)
