Description

Rutherford Cross is working with an SME based in South Lanarkshire to appoint a Financial Controller. The role holder will be joining the business at a key time as it embarks on an exciting growth journey. The role holder will be managing a small team, with high levels of autonomy, while working closely with the Finance Director on other projects.

A summary of some of the key duties are below:

  • Responsibility for all internal and external deadlines
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the finance department and line management of the finance team
  • Ensuring that internal control policies and procedures promote the continued reliability of accounting systems
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts
  • Creating monthly reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
  • Managing cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
  • Closely monitoring revenue to ensure quarterly targets are met and manage updates
  • Involvement with budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports
  • Reviewing all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost-reduction opportunities
  • Ensuring that the profitability of the company is enhanced by a robust costing framework
  • Suggesting updates and improvements for accounting systems, including cost accounting
  • Ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported
  • Establishing and implementing financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Managing the external audit process ensuring external auditors are provided with all the necessary documentation and support
  • Liaising with external tax accountants for tax preparation
  • Examining all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
  • Creating systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Involvement in financial project work, e.g. implementation of new ERP / FP&A systems
  • Assisting the FD in presenting timely and accurate reports to the management team, stakeholders, and board members

For this role, the company is seeking a fully qualified accountant with a proven track record across financial management, budgetary control, business planning and performance monitoring. Along with a salary of up to £75,000 and great benefits, the company also offers an earlier finish on a Friday.
