Job Title: Financial Controller
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + Car/Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits Package
Rutherford Cross has been retained by one of Scotland’s most successful independent companies to identify a high calibre qualified Accountant to undertake a key senior finance role. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will primarily be responsible for the day to day management of the finance team and all aspects of financial control and monitoring of the internal control environment. This will be a challenging, but immensely fulfilling role that requires an individual with sound technical ability, excellent people skills, and a strong commitment to the job and the team.
A background in multi-site retail, or a related high volume sector would be useful, but more important is that the individual shares the values of the organisation and has the capacity to operate effectively in a commercial and change orientated business environment. It is critical that the Financial Controller can support the CFO and the needs of stakeholders, both across the business and externally. In particular, it is essential they can take responsibility for the delivery of accurate and high quality financial information while organising the finance function.
A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:
- Qualified Accountant with post qualification experience ideally gained in retail or a related industry
- Confident communicator at every level, with strong inter-personal and relationship building skills
- Collaborative and values led approach, displaying professionalism, pragmatism, and a commitment to meeting the needs of the business and members
- Self-motivated and capable of developing in the current role over time
- Brings a continuous improvement mind-set, focused on delivering return on investment and increased profitability
This will be a varied and fast moving role that requires an individual with a commercial mindset and the capacity to work collaboratively with the wider business. Although predominately a finance role, there will also be opportunities to contribute to operational aspects of the business as an active member of the leadership team.
