Rutherford Cross is delighted to be partnered with a highly successful, family-run business based on the outskirts of Glasgow in order to appoint a Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial or Management Accountant to progress their career within a diverse business. The Financial Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and play a key role within the finance function.
Ideally, the position would suit a ‘Qualified by Experience’ accountant, who has previous experience working within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- The preparation of monthly management accounts
- The production of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Bank reconciliations
- The preparation of VAT returns
- Daily cash flow management
- Processing invoices and staff expenses
- Monthly payroll and sub-contractor reconciliations
- Supporting the CFO with ad hoc tasks and projects
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified or ‘Qualified By Experience’ Accountant
- Relevant experience in a financial or management accountant role
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to organise workload and have attention to detail
- Ability to challenge existing processes and drive improvements
- Proactive individual
- Proficient in Excel
- A background in the construction sector would be beneficial, although not essential
