Description

Rutherford Cross is working with a high growth SME business to recruit for the role of Financial Controller. The organisation has exciting growth plans and this role will play an integral part in supporting the business on their upwards trajectory.  The company are keen to appoint an ambitious and highly driven candidate to the role which will report directly to the CEO and will be a key member of the senior leadership team.

A summary of some of the key responsibilities are below:

  • Oversight and delivery of month end reporting and controls
  • Support the production and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all entities
  • Budget and forecast activity as well as complete consolidated commentary for board and stakeholder review
  • Management and coaching of finance team
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for each of the legal entities including the group consolidated statements
  • Management of the full audit process
  • Preparation of ad hoc financial analysis
  • Oversight of payroll processing on a monthly basis utilising external providers
  • Cashflow management including treasury management across multiple currencies
  • VAT/Sales Tax - review and analyse periodic returns ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and work with foreign advisors for additional entities
  • PAYE - communications with HMRC and review of submissions
  • Corporation/Federal Tax - work with advisors to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and timely submission of relevant returns
  • R&D Tax Credit - prepare, substantiate and manage submission of R&D tax claims to HMRC

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant by training, highly proactive and keen to be hands-on in delivering a robust finance function. The business is entrepreneurial and high growth, and therefore the candidate will need to be flexible in their approach and be able to work closely with the CEO and other senior leaders across the business, as well as being a natural leader.

Required skills and experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant with appropriate post qualification experience
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team, taking responsibility for team members development
  • Previous experience in a similar role at Financial Controller level or equivalent, in a fast moving business
  • Keen eye for detail, able to review processes, and suggest and drive improvements
  • Commercial mindset, able to support growth activities
  • Able to build relationships easily, manage stakeholder engagement and business partner across the organisation
  • Exposure to multi entity consolidation including foreign entities
