Description

Rutherford Cross is supporting an SME business who are on a high growth trajectory to recruit for a Financial Controller. The business are highly entrepreneurial and ambitious with exciting plans ahead. Reporting into the Chief Executive this role will take responsibility for managing the finance function for the Group. Managing a small team, the position will require the Financial Controller to be hands on in handling all finance matters including financial reporting, balance sheet and cash control, management of payroll and preparation of statutory accounts. In future it could also involve system and process assessment and improvements. A summary of some of the key duties are below:

  • Management, support and development of the small Finance Team
  • Providing support to the Chief Executive and other colleagues
  • Preparation of timely and accurate management accounts each month, including the associated book-keeping
  • Responsible for all monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, and balance sheet control
  • Provision of supporting financial information for monthly board reporting within set timescales
  • Issue other financial reports as required
  • Measure working capital highlighting potential issues
  • Analysis and interpretation of the financial information
  • Management of the payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely payments in a fast changing environment
  • Ensure robust financial control procedures
  • Investigate issues, solve problems and implement improvement in processes maintaining adequate documentation
  • Compliance with tax and accounting regulations
  • Manage the annual audit and preparation of statutory accounts
  • Manage the preparation of corporation tax computations

For this role the company are seeking a fully qualified accountant – CA/ACCA/CIMA who has prior experience in a hands on Finance Manager/Financial Controller role and likely in an SME environment. With responsibility for a small team it is important the candidate has good communication and leadership skills and is able to motivate others. With the business growing and due to their entrepreneurial nature a degree of flexibility is required to support with ad hoc project work and adapt to changing situations quickly. Having a good eye for detail and being able to interpret numbers and provide solid analysis and insight will also be required. The business are offering a salary in the region of £55,000 plus good benefits including a flexible working week.
