Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a highly successful Ayrshire-based business to appoint a Financial Accountant. The Financial Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial statutory statements, analysing financial data, and using accounting software to process transactions. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a key role in the delivery of timely and accurate financial information.

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and maintaining adequate systems and controls
• Monthly upload to Group ensuring mapping in line with group requirements
•  Assisting in providing technical advice on accounting (including UK GAAP) and all relevant taxes for the finance team
• Reviewing monthly production of balance sheet reconciliations
• Producing annual financial statements
• Ensuring adequate timetable for all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables deployed and adhered to
• Ensuring the Finance function has adequate financial processes, systems and controls, and that these are implemented and documented appropriately
• Maintaining effective management accounting processes
• Supporting the prudent management, operational delivery, development and strategic enhancement of the Finance function
• Assisting with any ad hoc Finance tasks as and when required

The Individual:

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAS or equivalent) or qualified by experience
• Strong knowledge of Financial Statements and Financial Reporting (FRS 102, IFRS, US GAAP a bonus)
• Analytical Skills for interpreting financial data and identifying trends
• Experience with a regulated sector such as audit or FCA
• Strong fundamental accounting skills and technical knowledge
• Experience in Finance and Accounting Software, such as Sage
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Budget and forecasting experience
• Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
