Rutherford Cross are delighted to be partnered with a long-established, successful Scottish business in order to appoint a Financial Accountant. This is a newly created position as a direct of result of business growth. The successful individual will be joining the business at a very exciting stage in its journey, therefore the expectation is that the role will evolve with time as the business does.
The primary responsibility of this role is to closely support the Finance Director by producing detailed and timely financial reporting, cash flow forecasting and management information. The Financial Accountant will work closely with the Finance Director, playing a key role in financial planning and analysis to support decision-making and help shape the future of the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completion of the management accounting
- Preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, including cash flow
- Developing a new value-add reporting suite to meet business needs and growth
- Driving the financial controls agenda, identifying gaps and implementing improvements
- Management of the year-end audit and statutory accounts process
- Provision of tax information to external advisors
- Supporting the Finance Director with long-term growth plans
- Other duties as required
There will also be a focus on process improvements. The Financial Accountant will review finance processes and procedures then implement changes to support the firm’s growth ambitions whilst strengthening the financial control environment.
Individual Requirements:

The individual will ideally be:
- A qualified accountant
- Able to work autonomously and have a genuine passion for problem-solving
- Comfortable analysing and interpreting complex data, drawing logical conclusions
- Thoughtful, clear and concise in how they assess problems and present solutions
- Confident in managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Ambitious in their approach to their own development
The individual will ideally have:
- Commercial financial planning and analysis experience
- Experience of developing robust processes and controls
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail
- An ability to manage conflicting priorities
- Experience of managing external auditors through the year-end audit process
- Advanced Excel skills
