Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working in partnership with a Glasgow-based not-for-profit organisation in order to appoint a Finance Manager. This post is a key position within the organisation and will work closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure effective financial management of the organisation.

Ideally, we are keen to speak to accounting professionals with charity sector experience and a keen eye for continuous improvement. On offer is a salary of up to £40,000 p.a and an excellent wider benefits package, including a generous annual leave entitlement and employer pension contribution.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts pack in accordance with the reporting timescales, including monthly journals and the preparation of forecasts to the end of the financial year
  • Assisting the Director of Finance with the preparation of the annual budget
  • Regularly reviewing all finance policies & internal control procedures to ensure that they provide a robust financial management framework
  • Ensuring all financial records and systems are in accordance with accepted accounting principles and auditing standards
  • Ensuring that financial systems are suitable for purpose and when appropriate work with the Director of Finance to select and implement new systems or upgrades
  • Providing the Director of Finance, SMT and budget holders with timely and accurate financial information
  • Reviewing the bank reconciliation process
  • Preparing and maintaining an asset register
  • Preparing payroll, ensuring that pension contributions and statutory deductions are correctly calculated and administered
  • Preparing budget proposals for funding bids/applications
  • Monitoring cash, working capital and capital spend
  • Preparing reports for funders as required
  • Preparing month end and year end accounts and ensuring statutory financial reporting for audit in line with the new Charity SORP & FRS102
  • Managing the relationship with the Bank
  • Managing the annual insurance review
  • Liaising with external auditors
  • Supervising Finance staff
  • Overseeing all restricted funds, including the monthly reconciliation of all restricted fund accounts
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

The Individual:

  • ‘Qualified By Experience’, part-qualified or fully qualified accountant
  • Preparation of charity accounts and knowledge of the appropriate accounting standards
  • Experience of preparing monthly management accounts to a high standard.
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to work to a reporting timetable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong team player
