Description
Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a highly successful Ayrshire-based business in order to appoint a Finance Manager. The Finance Manager will report to the Head of Finance and will play a key role in providing direction and leadership to the Finance team. Ideally, this role would suit a newly or recently qualified accountant (ICAS / ACCA or equivalent), with strong technical accounting experience. This is a brilliant opportunity for the right individual to develop themselves and their skills within an exciting business.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the Finance team to produce month-end management accounts
- Monitoring and maintaining adequate systems and controls
- Overseeing the finance aspects of payroll processing for all Group entities
- Reviewing monthly management accounts and reporting per agreed timelines
- Monthly upload to Group, ensuring mapping in line with group requirements
- Assisting in providing technical advice on accounting (including UK GAAP) and all relevant taxes for the finance team
- Reviewing monthly production of balance sheet reconciliations with full supporting backup
- Leading with the interim and final audit process, responsible for upload of requested backup to auditors
- Delivering and reviewing year-end audit files and respective papers in line with deliverables for the external auditors for all entities
- Producing annual financial statements
- Ensuring the adequate timetable for all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables is deployed and that it is adhered to
- Producing and reviewing all applicable taxes and statutory filling including PAYE, VAT, PSA, Corporation Tax, Deferred Tax
- Working with the Accountants for the production of monthly / quarterly / annual budget versus actual commentary ahead of the review process with the Head of Finance
- Ensuring the Finance function has adequate financial processes, systems and controls and that these are implemented and documented appropriately
- Maintaining effective management accounting processes
- Supporting the prudent management, operational delivery, development and strategic enhancement of the Finance function
- Providing some cover for the Head of Finance in times of absence
- Assisting with any ad hoc Finance tasks as and when required
The Person:
- A qualified accountant (ICAS / ACCA or equivalent)
- Experienced in meeting strict deadlines
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload to adhere to deadlines, whilst managing various stakeholders
- Proficient in the use of accounting software, for example, Sage
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically strong in Excel and Word
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Experienced in leading, motivating and mentoring personnel, coupled with excellent communication skills
- Experienced in leading a team (desirable)
