Description

Rutherford Cross are delighted to be partnered with a hugely dynamic and exciting start-up based in Glasgow to help appoint the newly created position of Finance Manager. The business operate within a high-growth and rapidly expanding sector and this appointment represents a key hire for them as they build out their Finance Function.

Reporting directly into the CFO you will have a varied role and the opportunity to get broad exposure to the whole business. There are significant opportunities to build your career here as is it is foreseen that as the business scales this position will take on more responsibility. Initially you will line manage one member of stuff but as the function growths this is likely to expand. You will be expected to further develop processes and build improved reporting/KPI’s/Customer Analytics etc.

Ideally, we are looking for a qualified accountant with a couple of years post-qualification experience in an industry setting, happy to consider ICAS/ACCA/CIMA. We are looking for someone in a similar role looking for a new challenge in an exciting organisation with significant growth prospects or someone looking to take their first step into a Finance Manager from a slightly more junior role, someone making their second industry move who feels ready for a step up.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Finance Operations

  • Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger for the UK entity and the US entity
  • All finance processes including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of the quarterly VAT return, statutory reporting and tax compliance, payroll and employee expenses
  • Execute the billing process for monthly customer invoicing

Policy and Control

  • Develop and maintain a strong control environment with robust documented processes and procedures -the Financial Control framework

Reporting

  • Produce the monthly reporting pack for both the executive team and the review boards
  • Produce, collate and present KPI data from across the business units for inclusion in the Executive Board Pack and the Review Board Pack
  • Support with ad hoc requests to provide analysis and insight across the business to assist with decision making

Planning and Budgeting

  • Support in producing meaningful analysis to assist with business planning, budgeting and forecasting
