Director - Private Client Services
Location: Leeds | Hybrid (2 days office-based)

Rutherford Cross is supporting a market‑leading professional services organisation to appoint a motivated and ambitious Personal Tax Director or Senior Tax Manager to join its specialist Private Tax team. This is a unique opportunity to work with a high‑calibre client portfolio while helping shape the growth of a thriving practice. You will join a collaborative, people‑focused environment that empowers individuals to grow their careers, develop new skills, and work on complex, multi‑country projects that make a real impact.

The Opportunity

In this senior role, you will work with a diverse range of private clients, entrepreneurs, senior executives, family offices, investors, and internationally mobile individuals, providing high‑quality personal tax advice and compliance support. You will play a key leadership role, from managing intricate advisory projects to driving new business and mentoring junior colleagues.

Typical Work Includes:

  • Personal tax return preparation and compliance
  • Wealth structuring and global tax optimisation
  • Estate, succession, and inheritance tax planning
  • Cross-border project work across an international adviser network
  • Supporting a varied portfolio of UK and non‑UK domiciled and resident clients

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow business development opportunities through your professional network
  • Oversee the delivery of technically demanding consulting assignments
  • Provide coaching, supervision, and mentoring to junior team members
  • Contribute to team leadership, operations, and strategic initiatives
  • Maintain a strong client focus, delivering commercially‑driven tax solutions

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong personal tax technical knowledge and experience
  • Proven relationship-building and communication skills
  • A commercial mindset with strong strategic awareness
  • The ability to negotiate, influence, and present well‑reasoned advice
  • A track record of originating and converting business opportunities
  • Effective project and time management abilities
  • Experience working with a range of client types (e.g., family-owned, PE-backed, AIM-listed, OMBs)
  • A collaborative, adaptable, and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • A relevant qualification such as ACA, CA, CTA, Tax Inspector background, Law, or equivalent
