Director - Private Client Services
Location: Leeds | Hybrid (2 days office-based)
Rutherford Cross is supporting a market‑leading professional services organisation to appoint a motivated and ambitious Personal Tax Director or Senior Tax Manager to join its specialist Private Tax team. This is a unique opportunity to work with a high‑calibre client portfolio while helping shape the growth of a thriving practice. The Opportunity
In this senior role, you will work with a diverse range of private clients, entrepreneurs, senior executives, family offices, investors, and internationally mobile individuals, providing high‑quality personal tax advice and compliance support. You will play a key leadership role, from managing intricate advisory projects to driving new business and mentoring junior colleagues.
Typical Work Includes:
- Personal tax return preparation and compliance
- Wealth structuring and global tax optimisation
- Estate, succession, and inheritance tax planning
- Cross-border project work across an international adviser network
- Supporting a varied portfolio of UK and non‑UK domiciled and resident clients
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow business development opportunities through your professional network
- Oversee the delivery of technically demanding consulting assignments
- Provide coaching, supervision, and mentoring to junior team members
- Contribute to team leadership, operations, and strategic initiatives
- Maintain a strong client focus, delivering commercially‑driven tax solutions
Skills & Experience:
- Strong personal tax technical knowledge and experience
- Proven relationship-building and communication skills
- A commercial mindset with strong strategic awareness
- The ability to negotiate, influence, and present well‑reasoned advice
- A track record of originating and converting business opportunities
- Effective project and time management abilities
- Experience working with a range of client types (e.g., family-owned, PE-backed, AIM-listed, OMBs)
- A collaborative, adaptable, and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- A relevant qualification such as ACA, CA, CTA, Tax Inspector background, Law, or equivalent
