Rutherford Cross is delighted to be supporting a leading Renfrew-based business to recruit a Credit Control Manager on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This role will play a pivotal part in managing and driving performance across the credit control team following a system implementation. The right candidate will take a hands-on approach to managing a team in a fast-moving and customer-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, maintain and uphold the company credit policy
- Ensure customer accounts are monitored and all invoices and credit notes are reconciled to reflect accurate customer activity
- Review credit applications and credit references to ensure creditworthiness of new applicants
- Manage a team of credit control clerks to ensure customer query resolution targets are set, monitored and managed
- Oversee collection procedures and be a point of escalation for complex accounts
- Review and report on aged debts, advising management of any risk exposure
- Prepare journal entries and credit notes as required
- Manage write-offs and bad debt provisions
The candidate will report into the Financial Controller and requires a candidate with strong people management skills.
Other desirable candidate characteristics include:
- Leadership skills are essential
- 3+ years of experience working within credit control and cash collection
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to build strong relationships up to a senior level
- Good prioritisation skills
- Experience working within a high-volume environment
- Ability to clearly explain financial transactional issues
- Excellent time management and high attention to detail
