Rutherford Cross is working with a leading business based in Glasgow to recruit for a Credit Control Manager. This role will include the management of a team of Credit Controllers and Credit Control Administrators to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of customer credit control, as well as taking responsibility for the group sales ledger and supporting functions.
The role will report directly to the Finance Director and provides an excellent opportunity to join a high-growth company. The role will suit a candidate who has previously managed a high volume, complex credit control function and is also a great people manager, able to motivate and develop others.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Credit Control and Administration support within the company to ensure deadlines and objectives are met
- Manage, motivate, and develop the team to meet objectives to ensure all credit control is carried out efficiently and professionally
- Review the sales ledger monthly and work with Finance to forecast the cash collection target for the team
- Maximise cash collection and ensure that all accounts are maintained accordingly
- Ongoing assessment of the team, implementing any training requirements leading to their development
- Ongoing review of the processes and implement measures to improve efficiency
- Provide a monthly comprehensive analysis of the team performance, cash collection and aged debt, and identify any trends / recommendations
- Manage customer complaints efficiently and professionally ensuring corrective measures are implemented and training identified as a result is carried out
- Produce a monthly report for the Board which will summarise the sales ledger and identify any accounts of concern
- Liaise with the Major Accounts team to provide updates and performance reports monthly – focusing predominantly on overdue debt and what needs to be done to address this
- Review customer processes and procedures to ensure they continue to be effective for the business needs, which will include customer visits
- Manage Credit Risk by identifying accounts of concern and working with the team to review the risk level identified and to advise the business on the appropriate action that should be taken
- Manage the Legal process and associated third parties
Experience / Skills:
- Previous experience of managing a Credit Control team in a high-volume business
- Be a key support to the Finance Director
- Ability to lead and develop a team
- Confident and able to work on own initiative
- Ability to build strong working relationships across the Credit Control team and with key stakeholders in the wider business
- A keen eye for detail whilst also being able to see this in the context of the strategic and commercial picture
- Highly numerate with IT skills, in particular MS Excel
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and keen to take the next step in their career
