The Role:

Chiene + Tait are looking to bolster their Corporate Tax team at an exciting time for the firm with the addition of a Corporate Tax Manager. This role has arisen as the result of continued growth and new client wins. The role offers the opportunity to provide end-to-end client service and significant client contact, from planning through compliance to involvement with any wider advisory work which adds value for the client.  Furthermore, due to the structure of the business, the level of autonomy, exposure to partners, and opportunities to get involved with wider initiatives across the firm is very attractive.

Chiene + Tait have offices across Scotland. This opportunity is also available to professionals who would like to work mainly remotely who are either living in Scotland or in the wider UK. There is a requirement to have an in person catch up with your team once a month, and to attend in person client meetings as necessary.

 

The Main Duties at Manager Level Include:

  • Responsibility for day-to -day delivery of exceptional client care
  • Overseeing a portfolio of clients to deliver both compliance and advisory work according to budget and deadlines
  • Reviewing corporation tax compliance work, tax accounting figures & disclosures, and assisting junior members with technical queries
  • Providing ad hoc tax advice and communicating with clients thereon
  • Providing technical tax advice on specialist advisory projects, leading these projects in most cases. Examples of recent advisory projects undertaken include demergers, refinancing, restructuring, due diligence, capital allowance reports, overseas tax matters, property transactions, amongst others
  • Acting as a skilled people manager who can coach and develop a team
  • Identifying and managing areas of risk for clients and the firm
  • Building strong client relationships and active involvement with business development activities
  • Identifying opportunities for clients and for other disciplines to expand the scope and value of our services
  • Liaising with colleagues across the firm to provide a coordinated service to clients
  • Managing fee aspects of the client engagement and handling due diligence client take on procedures
  • Monitoring budgets, driving profitability, and raising issues at the appropriate level
  • Department management matters

 

The Individual:

We are looking for skilled and enthusiastic professionals with the following:

  • Expertise in corporate tax matters and a proven track record of working with SME clients is desirable
  • CTA, ATT or CA qualified or qualified by relevant experience
  • An excellent understanding of the tax legislation and the ability to explain technical issues effectively to clients and colleagues
  • Commercial awareness with a view to optimising tax planning for clients
  • A proactive approach to managing staff and projects, including a willingness to take responsibility and suggest solutions to problems encountered
  • Business development skills and ability to build effective client relationships
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to take responsibility to drive completion of projects
  • Motivated and committed to continuously developing technical, commercial and client relationship skills
  • Effective time manager who can organise and delegate work efficiently to deliver on time and in budget
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and good IT skills

Basic Salary: £Competitive + bonus

Company Pension: 4% employer contribution and 4% employee contribution
