Rutherford Cross is currently exclusively engaged on a Commercial Finance Manager role with a leading manufacturing business based in Glasgow.
The Opportunity
The Commercial Finance Manager will be the key financial point of contact for all commercial financial reporting and to support the Commercial and Business Development Director in all key activities. The focus will be on building strong and effective working relationships with customers and stakeholders. This is a strategic dynamic role within the organisation with opportunities on the commercial side.
The Role
The role has a strong emphasis on commercial finance, and will be instrumental in shaping the future direction of the business. The role is accountable for managing performance through commercial policies, insight in reporting and challenge in review of commercial teams. The role will also assess new business deal opportunities and be accountable for maximising business efficiency and productivity. This individual will be the go to person on all aspects of the financial cost base for commercial. The role reports into the Group Financial Controller with a dotted line to Group Commercial Director.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide relevant, focused and timely management reporting to Group Finance on monthly results and variances plus reporting and focus on all aspects of sales and margin.
- Develop accurate budgets and forecasts for Commercial so there is clear line of sight on key margins both UK and internationally
- Ensure accurate reporting of sales and margin for both UK and International split by territory, product type and customer
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations performed and reviewed on a monthly basis in line with Group Reporting timetable
- Ensure Commercial margin file is suitable for all aspects of financial reporting and the info is robust and accurate
- Improve financial performance and through cost and process efficiencies
- Be key finance point of contact for audit items related to Commercial
- Management of commercial finance team
Skills Required:
- Significant experience within finance environment with exposure to commercial transactions and operations preferable
- Professionally qualified accountant (e.g. CA, ACCA, ACMA) or experienced finance professional
- Commercial understanding and insight
- Ability to work well under continual time deadlines and financial goals.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organisation in all contacts and relationships.
- Ability to analyse data and draw conclusions.
- Accurately and thoroughly maintain a wide variety of records.
- Prepare clear, concise, comprehensive and accurate reports.
- Understand, interpret and apply sound commercial knowledge.
- Learn and effectively use accounting systems to store and retrieve data.
- Clearly communicate orally and in writing with all levels in the organisation.
- Provide accurate information and elicit co-operative working relationships.
- Prepare complex financial statements, reports and analyses.
- Examine, verify and prepare financial information. Proficient in various computer programmes such as MS Office programs, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel / Hyperion / SYSPRO (an advantage but not essential)
The Candidate:
To succeed in this role the candidate will be commercially astute, with the capability to deliver within a project led manufacturing environment.
The candidate will be expected to demonstrate their ability to think strategically and independently. The ability to influence across a range of stakeholders and to communicate effectively across other functions is a pre requisite for this role. The prospective candidate should have experience in leading a team and will have responsibility for direct reports.
Remuneration:
In addition to a salary of £65,000- £70,000 per annum (depending on experience) there are a number of additional benefits on top of the basic salary.
