Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a successful FMCG business to appoint a Commercial Accountant.  This is an excellent career opportunity for an accountant with experience of producing valuable MI to support decision-making in a fast paced commercial operation.

The role will be based remotely and therefore will suit an individual who has enjoyed the benefits of not commuting over the last year.

The role will work closely with the Senior Finance Business Partner and the commercial team in pursuit of high standards of financial performance.  The role will strive to provide well-presented accurate financial information to support and challenge the commercial team to maximise returns for the business. The post holder will also be a key player in the preparation of in depth analysis and understanding of gross margins and customer pricing.  The role will be involved in the implementation of financial improvements which will contribute to achieving profit and cash flow targets of the company.

Key duties include:

Financial Reporting

• Provide in depth weekly and monthly gross margin analysis, explaining volume & mix impacts, selling price mechanism movements and cost of sales impacts
• Work closely with Commercial team on business and reporting improvements for key customers
• Ensure all assigned balance sheet reconciliations are prepared monthly, pro-actively solving any variances

Financial Support

• Ownership of updating & issuing all customer price lists internal and external.  Understanding and communicating the impact of the changes to the business
• Play active role in the annual Budget and monthly rolling forecasts
• Balance regular financial workload with business partnering opportunities

Auditor Relations

• Liaise with external auditors for all queries as well as any queries on gross margins for Bank reporting

Project Work

• Work closely with wider finance team in support of joined up financial solutions for the company
• Involvement in any Finance and Commercial ad hoc projects supporting any financial calculations needed

On offer:

Basic Salary: £40,000- £45,000
