Rutherford Cross is proud to be partnering with a market-leading, UK-based organisation in their search for a Capital Accounting Manager, based in Glasgow. This is a key appointment within the finance function and will suit individuals with a strong technical accounting foundation, ideally gained in external audit, who are now looking to make their first move into industry. It is also an excellent fit for professionals currently working in a similar capital projects role within a large or complex organisation.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the business’s substantial capital investment programme, ensuring robust financial governance over project spend, optimising asset capitalisation, and driving continuous improvement across related processes.
The Opportunity:
- Full ownership of key finance processes from end to end
- Oversee project and asset accounting, including business capitalisation
- Provide high-level business partnering on capital expenditure projects over £1bn pa
- Track key performance metrics and champion continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive service delivery and support strategic and operational improvements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the wider business
- Ensure timely and accurate capitalisation to the Fixed Asset Register and ongoing asset maintenance
- Manage month-end sub-ledger close activities
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to close audit requests efficiently
- Lead and motivate a team, driving performance, development, and strategic priorities
- Identify growth opportunities and create clear career development pathways
About You:
- Qualified Accountant (ICAS / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams
- Strong experience in Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) accounting
- Proven business partnering capabilities with key stakeholders and budget owners
- Analytical thinker with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
