Rutherford Cross is working with a well-respected Public Sector organisation in Glasgow, with locations throughout the UK and Singapore, to recruit an Assistant Project Accountant. This is a newly created role as a direct result of the organisation’s upcoming growth plans. It is a very exciting time for a driven, part-qualified accountant to be joining the already well-established team.
The successful post holder will work closely with the Project Accounting Team, Estates Programme office and Project Managers to provide high level financial management support, and ensure the effective financial management and governance of assigned Projects.
On offer is a salary of up to £35k (depending on experience) and an exceptional benefits package including 41 days annual leave, 23.7% employer contribution pension and the option for study support if desired.
Ideally, we are looking to speak with part-qualified accountants (CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) who are enthusiastic about their developing their knowledge and skillset within a large finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide financial advice, guidance, and challenge to Project Managers
• Conduct regular project forecast activity
• Produce robust project financial reports and analysis together with recommendations on key areas of focus to support decision making
• Be responsible for the preparation of the monthly Assets Under Construction Balance Sheet Reconciliation providing appropriate commentary, resolve queries in a timely manner, investigate variances and take corrective action as required
• Manage the quarterly project capitalisations
• Provide support to the project accounting team in relation to month-end reporting
• Manage and deal with enquiries from Internal and external customers
• Provide support to the Project Accounting Team in relation to internal and external audit and procurement matters
• Other duties as required
The Ideal Candidate:
• Part-qualified accountant, currently studying towards completing their professional studies
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Strong evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the role
• Good knowledge of business processes, management information systems and business partnering
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in a similar or related role(s) within a large and complex financial environment
