Job Description:
As an Assistant Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role within the finance department and your responsibilities will encompass a variety of accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
• Calculate and process payroll, encompassing regular salaries, overtime, bonuses and deductions
• Maintain records of employee benefits, including health insurance and retirement contributions
• Generate payroll reports and statements as needed
• Review and validate the accuracy of payroll data to prevent errors
General Accounting Support:
• Assist in general accounting tasks, such as accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes
• Aid in the preparation of financial statements and reports
• Support the finance team in budgeting and forecasting activities
• Perform reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial data
• Keep financial records and ledgers organised and up-to-date
Reconciliation:
• Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
• Identify and resolve discrepancies and errors in financial records
• Ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of all financial transactions
• Address and resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely manner
Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Collaborate with the finance team to create and manage budgets
• Contribute to financial forecasting and variance analysis
• Monitor actual performance against the budget and provide insights
Key Skills:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- Part-qualified ACCA or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A high level of motivation to meet tight deadlines
- Previous experience in payroll processing and accounting
- Familiarity with Xero accounting software is beneficial
