Description

As a Management Accountant within the Hotel Accounting division, you will work closely with the Financial Controller to produce high-quality monthly management accounts, balance sheets, and related financial reports for hotel clients. You will ensure all reporting adheres to internal controls and compliance standards, while consistently maintaining a high level of accuracy and service.

You will be expected to build a deep understanding of each client’s business, providing actionable insights and identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong practical accounting capabilities and take a proactive approach to client support and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of the monthly management accounting cycle for a dedicated portfolio of hotel clients
  • Review monthly management packs, including profit & loss and balance sheet, identifying and addressing variances and potential risks
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly VAT returns, and assist with VAT inspections as required
  • Supervise and support the Finance Assistant, providing coaching and contributing to process improvement initiatives
  • Oversee bank reconciliation and accounts payable controls, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding issues and process enhancements
  • Prepare year-end audit files and liaise with auditors during external client audits
  • Maintain robust financial controls in line with policies, procedures, and audit requirements
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing enhancements to systems and processes
  • Respond to ad hoc queries from hotel management and client teams
  • Support the Financial Controller in developing a robust control environment aligned to client needs
  • Undertake ad hoc accounting tasks and project work as required
  • Please note: this is not an exhaustive list of duties

Qualifications:

  • Qualified by experience, with formal qualification (ICAS/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent) desirable but not essential

Experience Required:

  • Ideally, experience in hotel accounting and producing management accounts
  • Previous experience managing or working within a client portfolio environment
  • Supervisory experience is advantageous

Key Skills:

  • Self-motivated, with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads to meet reporting deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with Business Central is highly desirable
  • Hotel industry knowledge would be advantageous
