Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to ensure the delivery of the Bank’s prudential regulatory reporting obligations to the PRA/BoE/EBA etc within an appropriately controlled environment, alongside production of internal analysis related to the ongoing monitoring of capital adequacy and liquidity.

You will also be the Subject Matter Expert for all Treasury accounting/financial instruments advice, including hedge accounting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own the prudential regulatory reporting for the Bank, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all COREP/FINREP and statistical returns to the PRA/BoE/EBA etc
  • Analyse and monitor the Bank’s capital position and liquidity on an ongoing basis to ensure it remains appropriate at all times in line with developing regulatory requirements
  • Accountable for the design and delivery of internal management (ALCO) reporting for capital adequacy and liquidity, ensuring that the information presented is relevant and insightful
  • Maintain and develop regulatory reporting processes, controls and IT solutions to keep pace with developing regulatory requirements and business changes, including the implementation of new reporting modules (eg FINREP, PRA 110 etc)
  • Manage the reporting aspects of the Bank’s structured/wholesale funding arrangements, including SPV accounts, monthly investor reports and BoE monitoring
  • Maintain a framework for the reporting and disclosure of all treasury instruments and wholesale funding arrangements in accordance with IFRS requirements
  • Ensure appropriate reporting of the Bank’s derivatives and hedge accounting arrangements in accordance with relevant IFRS
  • Ensure that the impact of new regulatory/treasury requirements and business changes (eg Mortgages) are implemented appropriately into BAU reporting
  • Manage the team effectively, encouraging development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the business (eg Finance Operations, Treasury, Risk, Data Management, Strategy and Planning) to enable the flow of information between teams

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with 3+ years’ experience
  • Significant financial/regulatory reporting experience and knowledge of IFRS, gained in industry or practice
  • Prior experience of regulatory reporting in the financial services sector, particularly retail banking, would be beneficial
  • Ability to coach and develop a team
  • Knowledge of secured funding structures, including SPVs, and accounting for financial instruments and derivatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation, e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level
  • Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong relationship management skills
