Description
12-month fixed term Senior Working Capital Accountant opportunity with a large Glasgow-based organisation.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
Working Capital Management
- Develop and manage working capital strategies to optimise liquidity and operational efficiency
- Lead cash flow forecasting, monitoring variances and recommending actions to mitigate risks or improve performance
- Oversee the management of accounts receivable and payable to maintain strong cash flow and minimise delays
Financial Efficiency
- Conduct VfM reviews on key expenditure lines, identifying cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement recommendations that enhance financial efficiency
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations related to financial processes
Leadership and Oversight
- Manage and support the Debt Controller, ensuring effective credit control processes and minimising aged debt
- Provide mentorship and guidance to the Transaction Services team to ensure best practices in financial operations
- Act as a liaison between the Transaction Services section and other finance teams, ensuring alignment of objectives
Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and present working capital and financial efficiency reports to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes by providing insights into cash flow and working capital metrics
- Support audits and compliance reviews related to working capital and financial operations
The Individual:
- Qualified Accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW etc.)
- Strong understanding of cash flow forecasting, accounts receivable/payable, and financial controls
- Significant experience in working capital management, treasury, or financial efficiency roles
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel
- Experience conducting VfM reviews or cost-saving initiatives is desirable
